Big mistake with needing an app that is only available on the iPHONE! All interest which I had had in this device has been totally annihilated, and eliminated by the iPHONE app. Sorry that I do not pass your little hipster test, and I haven't been deemed cool enough to be worthy of owning a Big Screen Beyond VR Headset. If you hadn't destroyed all of the interest I had originally, I would have ran right out to watch more foreign films, purchase even more obscure vinyl albums pressed by indie labels, and I would have consumed a hell of a lot more PBR, straight out of the can of course!!!

Just a pity the price is soo high.

If the VR1 came out a year ago I likely would have bought the VR1, it just came out way too late and at the wrong time.

Well only one of them have speakers, so its a no brainer. VR-1 will require you wearing another audio headset ontop of the VR headset haha.

Totally crazy prices for a wired headset with no controllers and no inside-out tracking which is a total must in this day and age. I love my lighthouses but Meta proved you can have perfect tracking without them. Even if there was an option for it it is just too expensive.

The high end is where the features start. They will make their way down to more affordable headsets in the future. Using high end allow us to see where the industry is going. Never Change.

the fact you need to invest another 1000€ ontop to get it to work is the deal breaker for me. This basicaly makes the base model 3000€ for people that are not yet in the base station ecosystem pimax is a way better alternative. cheaper and with the oled crystal coming out in a few months better image quality, unless pimax drops the ball with the crystal super but the just get the crystal light much cheaper

I've been playing a lot with my Quest3 in the last months and coming back to DCS and my Crystal (normal version), I have to say: the sweet spot with clarity, as well as the chromatic aberration are really annoying. But most noticeable is the fact, that the Crystal is more of like looking through a helmet; you can see the edges of the HMD. It's not like the Vive 1, where it would look like through a paper roll, but it is still very bothering (this does go away after some time though; like the brain just tuning the edges out)

How can I open the MobiFlightWasmModule.wasm file. I did not find any possibility to open it.

For Roy, I have now activated my licence key and have SimXr up and running, However, I have a pink square that appear instead of passthrough. The setting are as recommended, i.e RGB 255, 0, 255. Do you have an aswer to this please? Thanks.

I have no problem with the prices of these new headsets. If we don’t have companies developing this we won’t move onto better and cheaper headsets in the future. Over time the price comes down and the hardware evolves. We should be praising these companies.

Does it have the same limited vertical fov like the varjo aero has which is the most disappointing aspect of my aero and makes me not want to use it?

Hi Steve! Would you please help me out? I'm thinking about going for Crystal Light from Quest 3, because I would like to have the best visual quality possible. However, reviews are mixed in this regard. Some say Crystal Light visuals are better than Quest 3, but the difference is marginal and does not worth the upgrade. This makes me concerned a bit. What are your experiences? Is Crystal Light significantly better in visuals than Quest 3 or the difference is minor? Thanks!

If you talk about image quality, ffs try to film through the headset lense. There is absolutely no other way to show people how it actually looks.

I see videos about "Lossless Scaling" a program on steam, that gives players 2-3 times better FPS in MSFS and other games - have you tried it?

My next headset if the VR1 and I am on the list ... I won't buy another Varjo product after they essentially abandoned the Aero IMO without even finishing it. They made everyone think local dimming was coming and it never did and never will, making the Aero terrible for night flying. The more open nature of the VR1 is much more appealing to me.

How does the crystal light compare to the Varjo Aero? Should you upgrade?

As you know, the Troll vibe is everywhere. It is an internet thing we all experience every day in all things internet. I really appreciate your passion for VR. It is nice to be privy to your expertise. You are skilled at explaining things in simple terms in a fashion that does not make me feel simple. I don't care what the butt-hurt folks think and, neither should you.

P.S.: For me (like I said, VR not really FS enthusiast :D ) the biggest improvement in MSFS24 will be the actual missions to play. In MSFS2020 I usually just fly around a cool area and then get bored because I got nothing to do but in 24, especially stuff like firefighting and medevacs will be awesome if done well

As a VR enthusiast (yes VR first, I only started playing MSFS after I already played lots of VR stuff and would probably never have tried it in 2d) a headset like this just seems too limited. 95% of my time in VR is playing games with roomscale movement so I cannot imagine going back to a cable. And if I was I'd probably be better suited getting the Crystal Light with a 5090 when it releases for the same price (or less probably) instead of this or the somnium :D Regarding the somnium, got my email to order this week (reserved a spot early). I had thought it should be around 2k, instead it is now 4,5k€ with taxes for ET, MR and HT. No thanks lol I was a meta hater but the Quest 3 converted me somewhat. If meta can keep improving the next generations as much as they improved the Q3 over the Q2, considering their pricing it simply is the best option for 99% of people. I appreaciate you showing off stuff like this, the future for VR is great. But I just don't see myself buying something like this at this price ever :D

Now if the passhthrough can be attached to your hand so your hand acts like a torch which shines through into the real world and have a way of toggling that on and off, my mind would be blown.

Tried PCL at FlightSim Expo in Vegas yesterday and was favorably impressed. The image was very sharp and the field of view excellent. Big however is that me all the users in line before me that I saw had issues with the inside out tracking. At least 4 people in a row asked for multiple image/position resets. I needed two. Lesson is to purchase with the lighthouse option. Also tried the Somnium and don’t feel the two were in the same league. Somnium had minor image tearing and seemed to have over saturated colors.

Tried these at FlightSim Expo in Las Vegas yesterday. I currently use an Aero. I did not have an “a ha I need these moment.” Demo unit had good tracking and clarity but I experienced some minor image tearing and felt the colors were too oversaturated.

I have the Crystal and love it. I was able to try the Somnium at the Flight Sim Expo in Las Vegas and was underwhelmed. I didn't notice a large increase in quality over the Crystal and it was very heavy on the face. My 8-yr old son was able to try the Somnium as well and he told me later that it hurt his nose because it was so heavy.

14:00 - Yeah except not jealous, just they REALLY don't want VR to be at possibly neccessary Apple Vision Pro, Pimax 12K, XTAL, Varjo, Somnium VR1... starting prices and those exceeding $2,000+ it just scares people off, after all just look at all the NVIDIA gpu comments under famous tech channels... ane their channels' reviewers complaining (GamersNexus, LinusTechtips, and MANY others). In their defense Somnium VR1 is stupidly priced... an extra $400 just to get the clear version, just why? Wasn't that supposed to be a special limited edition anyways?
